ETHICAL ISSUES

OUR VIEW ON FEMINISMS

Feminism is ‘the movement to end sexism, sexual exploitation and sexual oppression'; (Hooks, 2000, p. 33).
It is a universe with many constellations, the one which was born in the explosion of social and gendered injustice amplified by the shifts in dispositions of modern time(s) and space(s), brought about by the technological acceleration of the industrial revolution and its aftermath. In the recent decades, the movement has developed and bifurcated into various situationally allied, but at times conflictual positions. As feminists, artists and researchers, we operate within an ethico-onto-epistemological plain of knowledge production, scientific practices and relationship to the world with its inhabitants – a related and relational, situated and interferential becoming through critical care and repair ethics in troubling times.
We also think and act in solidarity with intersectional feminists against all forms of oppression, including, racism, and exploitation of labor under capitalism in a present shaped by colonial histories. “Intersectionality is a starting point, the point from which we must proceed if we are to offer an account of how power works. ’ (Ahmed, 2017, p. 5).

CODE OF CONDUCT

As a collective that stands for equality, diversity, and inclusivity we don’t tolerate any harassing or discriminating behaviours whether online or in physical space. We want the virtual and physical spaces we meet are visible to be safer spaces, and that is achieved when everyone is on the same page about what that means and how to constitute it. Below you will find a more detailed explanation of what that entails.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or cultural background;
  • Sexual images without consent in public spaces;
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following;
  • Harassing photography or recording;
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events;
  • Inappropriate physical contact;
  • Unwelcome sexual attention;
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour.

ENFORCEMENT

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.  Organisers may take action to readress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting or making the environment hostile for any users.
We expect users to follow these rules. We think people should follow these rules outside this index too!

REPORTING

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible to a member of our collective. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of this project for everyone. We want you to be happy here. People like you make our space a better place.

This anti-harassment policy is based on the example policy from the Geek Feminism wiki, created by the Ada Initiative and other volunteers, and we would like to thank them for that.
